ICFMH held its board meeting from April 25-27, 2017 in Athens, Greece. All eleven board members participated in the meeting and reported the progress of their work that were assigned in the last board meeting in Dublin, Ireland (July 22-23, 2016).
The major issues discussed and approved include: 1) revision of the ICFMH constitution as a non-profit organization; 2) performance of the ICFMH journal (International Journal of Food Microbioogy); 3) Food Micro Conference in Berlin, Germany (2018) and next Food Micro Conferences (2020); 4) ICFMH sponsorship to young scientists from developing countries to attend Food Micro conference and organization of relevant workshops in Berlin next year; 5) applications for ICFMH 2017’ Mobility Grant Programme; 6) ICFMH best poster awards to international conferences other than Food Micro; 7) laboratory training program for selected African countries on application of molecular techniques in food microbiology and safety; and 8) Global networking of food microbiology teachers. Liasion with IUMS and other international bodies (FAO, ISO, etc.) as well as future activities of ICFMH working parties and ICPMF subcommittee were also on the agenda.
